It’s no secret that staying motivated in the summer can be hard. Vacations and schedule changes make it tough to stay on track, and let’s face it – a glistening pool or your cool, air-conditioned home might feel more enticing than a sweaty workout. But with more daylight and sunnier weather, summer can be a great time to kick your fitness routine into high gear.
Here are some tips to stay consistent and feel your best this summer.
Stay hydrated
Staying hydrated is extremely important in DC’s hottest, most humid months. Track your water intake, and drink it consistently throughout the day – before, during, and after working out. Electrolyte drinks and supplements can improve the body’s ability to absorb water and replace vital minerals such as sodium, magnesium, and potassium that are lost when you sweat.
Get outside
Enjoy the outdoors in the coolest parts of the day – morning and evening. Sign up for a calming Outdoor MINT Yoga class every Saturday at 11 am.
Accountability
For an extra boost of encouragement, go to the gym with a buddy. We offer a FLEXGuest option. With FLEXGuest, members may bring guests, including repeat guests, on an unlimited basis. One daily guest per member is included on each visit.
Each guest’s access mimics that sponsoring member’s access. If the member has class access, so does the guest, and if the member does not have class access, neither does the guest. FLEXGuest may be added to any membership for $19/month.
Participate in MINT’s Summer Bingo Challenge
From now through August 25th, participate in MINT’s Summer Bingo. No registration is required – members can pick up a MINTy Bingo card at the front desk (4 options) and complete the challenges listed on the card to get stamps. Once a full row, column, or diagonal has been completed, participants will be entered into a prize raffle.
